  • CULTURAL TOURS IN ALBANIA & THE BALKANS
The regions' best in exclusive guided tours

Our exclusive cultural tours of Albania – and of the other countries of the Western Balkans, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro, - offer travelers the unique opportunity to discover and appreciate this charming and still very little known region of Southern Europe.

Both a meeting place and a melting pot of civilizations over the centuries, the area preserves a cultural inheritance of remarkable value:

fascinating archaeological sites of the Hellenistic and Roman period, ruins of ancient towns, once inhabited by such legendary figures of antiquity as Philip II of Macedon and his son Alexander the Great, king Pyrrhus of Epirus, Giulius Ceasar, roman emperors Augustus and Justinian I, among others; enigmatic churches and monasteries of the Byzantine era, richly decorated with mosaics, frescoes and splendid paintings; perfectly preserved and still inhabited, historical boroughs of the Ottoman and Venetian periods; internationally renowned museums, set within lively, modern districts, in the main cities of the Balkans.

On top of its extraordinary historical and archaeological heritage, the region delights visitors also with the beautiful scenery of its landscapes, natural parks and unspoilt coastline.

Because of all this, the territory of Albania and of the other countries of the Western Balkans is an ideal place for a cultural holiday, where visits to archaeological sites and historic boroughs combine beautifully with pleasant nature walks and relaxing moments along the sunny shores.

Our tours are also a great opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the recent history of the region: from the fall of the Berlin Wall and the turbulent dissolution of former Yugoslavia, to the current processes of European and international integration.

Finally, of course, we make sure to introduce our travelers to the excellencies of the local culinary tradition, where Mediterranean and continental influences combine in a completely original way, to create many delicious land and sea dishes, based on high quality, fresh, seasonal produce. Every planned meal in our tours is conceived as a real gastronomic experience, dedicated to the discovery of the typical flavors of the visited regions.

The proposed itineraries can focus on a single country, or cross the entire territory in a regional grand tour. The duration can be of only 4-5 days, or much more, depending on the preferred itineraries and visiting experiences.

  • WHEN TO VISIT ALBANIA AND THE BALKANS
We propose cultural tours and holidays in Albania and the Western Balkans all year round, of course by adapting the itineraries to the different seasons.

HOW TO REACH ALBANIA AND THE BALKANS
The region's main gateway is the ‘International Airport Mother Teresa’ of Tirana, the Albanian capital, reachable by direct flights from many European and international hubs. Albania is also very well connected by sea with Italy, where it can be reached from the ports of Ancona, Bari and Brindisi. Arrivals and departures can of course be planned and customized according to the chosen tour itinerary.

    NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

We create customized proposals, for any expected number of participants, from couples to large groups.

    GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Wherever possible, and in any case in all the cities and sites we visit, we usually walk around, both to reduce our environmental impact and to fully enjoy the experience of visiting and meeting with the local population. For transfers between locations, we provide a dedicated vehicle and driver, for the entire duration of the tour (from minibuses to coaches, based on the number, or the preferences of the participants).

QUALITY OF ROADS AND TRAVEL TIMES

The roads in the region are safe and generally in good conditions, although not very fast. We choose the best itineraries, to minimize coach travel times and make them as interesting as possible. The average daily time dedicated to transfers depends of course on the chosen itinerary.

    ACCOMMODATION

We want our travelers overnight stay experience to be as comfortable and relaxing as possible, especially after a long and exiting day of visits and experiences. To achieve this, we partner with a wide network of hotels (3, 4 and 5-starred, wherever available), as well as with many characteristic accommodation structures, created in historic buildings.

    MEALS
Traditional cuisine is one of the main attractions of the region and we are committed to make our travelers gastronomic experience as memorable as possible, by carefully selecting our partners among the best restaurants and local taverns.

    TOUR DIRECTORS
All tours are managed by qualified and experienced native directors (guides), fluent in the languages of our travelers. They constantly provide insights and illustrate their themes with on-site talks; where appropriate the tour directors are supported by local experts, - archaeologists, historians, art experts, intellectuals and inhabitants of specific locations, - that supplement their knowledge and enrich the overall experience of our travelers.

    TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND HEALTH ISSUES
An identity card valid for expatriation is generally accepted in all countries of the region, with the exception of Kosovo, which requires a valid passport. Generally, no vaccination and no visas are required, but for more specific information about your country of residence, please contact us.

    WEATHER
The climate of the region varies greatly, depending on the specific location. In general it is comparable to that of Southern Italy: dry, warm and well-ventilated near the sea, cooler in the mountain areas of the hinterland.
